Psychology Services

The College has psychologists who promote the mental health and wellbeing of our students and provide individual counselling for a range of issues such as:

  • Emotional concerns, including worry, sadness, anger and stress

  • Family conflict

  • Study strategies

  • Relaxation techniques

The College psychologists assist the Heads of Year in delivering the Pastoral Care program for their year groups by presenting on different topics. This year they introduced the ‘Wellbeing on Wednesday’ (WOW) initiative which specifically focuses on positive psychology interventions and developing life skills, such as emotional regulation and interpersonal skills.

The psychologists can also assist with the learning needs of your child. This may involve referral for psychometric assessment and recommendations to improve learning skills. Students may self-refer or be referred by their parents or teachers.

The College psychologists adhere to the Australian Psychological Society’s Code of Ethics. This includes keeping conversations with students confidential. The exception to this is if someone is at risk of harm, then confidentiality may need to be broken in order to ensure the individual’s safety.

Staff development is an essential part of our vision at 51ɬɬÎÝapp. Our psychologists regularly provide workshops to our staff to ensure they are able to provide support for students’ emotional needs and to maintain their own wellbeing.
